Virginia’s Reading Crisis & Learning Gaps
The research is clear — third graders not reading on grade level are more likely to drop out of school. Too many of Virginia’s children are behind. Over 21,000 children are at risk of reading failure when they enter kindergarten. The reading and math gaps are widening. More children in kindergarten through second grade are at high risk of reading failure.
Our children, families, teachers, programs and schools are struggling. All children deserve a high-quality education from start to finish. Education MUST be Virginia’s top priority.
That is why we are calling on YOU to advocate for our children, families, teachers, programs and schools. Join us and send a clear message that our children matter. Education matters! We will call on you at just the the right time when your voice needs to be heard.
